Cari Minogue

Co-Founder & Executive Director

Cari is a passionate professional with ten years of leadership and management experience and recently completed her MBA. She is well respected among colleagues for both her commitment to the cause and her positive attitude.

In 2013, Cari’s high school friend and Co-founder Talia Mohns encouraged her to volunteer in Arusha, Tanzania at Good Hope Orphanage. She had the pleasure of meeting a wonderful community and the very special children of Good Hope Orphanage. Driven to help these kids, she came home with the idea for what became Dreaming For Kids.

Cari has a passion for travel and has been fortunate enough to teach on three continents and visit various countries in hopes of creating a difference in children’s lives.

Talia Mohns

Co-Founder & Director

Talia Mohns is a Business Consulting Executive based in Toronto with an Honours Commerce Degree from the University of Ottawa. Born in Germany to a military family, she spent her childhood living in different cities around Canada and the USA. The experience of setting up and getting oriented in new cities from her earliest days sparked her lifelong love of travelling and all around curious spirit. In 2012 she took a year-long sabbatical to travel the globe with her husband.

While on her journey, she sought out a volunteer opportunity that would be authentic and present the opportunity to make a real impact. This search lead her to Good Hope Orphanage and School in Arusha, Tanzania, a local, family-run, grassroots organization that gives local children a shot at a better life. Her time spent with the incredible people at Good Hope changed her outlook and renewed her belief that the way to eradicate hatred and poverty around the globe is through EDUCATION.

In 2013 she co-founded Dreaming For Kids with her childhood friend Cari, who had just returned home from volunteering with the same organization in Tanzania. After seeing the tangible impact we’ve had so far, Talia is excited for Dreaming For Kids to grow and expand our reach.

Tarek Kassem

Chief Financial Officer

Tarek was born in Montreal, raised in Ottawa and now resides in Toronto, where he works in the financial sector as a trader for a major national bank. Having graduated from the University of Ottawa with an Honours Degree in Business Communications, Tarek is currently working on his level 2 accreditation to become a Certified Market Technician.

In his free time Tarek likes to go to the gym, play sports, watch movies and explore the city. An avid reader, you might also find Tarek with his head down in a book as he commutes to work. The Count of Monte Cristo is his favorite book and he is proud to remind anyone who will listen that he managed to finish the book in under a month.

Tarek first became involved with Dreaming for Kids when Cari was talking of an upcoming event. Despite sometimes busy hours, Tarek was looking for a way to make a difference in the community, so he approached Cari about joining the DFK team in any sort of capacity. He is now acting as Dreaming For Kids Chief Financial Officer.

Eric J Dunn

Director of Communications

Eric Dunn is a long-time friend, and travel companion, of Cari Minogue. When Cari came back from Africa with plans of launching Dreaming For Kids, Eric joined the cause. Believing education and sustainability are pillars of development, Eric saw the concrete goals of Dreaming For Kids as not only important and valuable but attainable.

Eric is a marketing professional with experience in promotions and events planning. His portfolio consists of an Advanced Honours Diploma in Business Administration and Marketing, as well as a Certificate in Digital Media Skills from OCAD U. Eric took on the role of Director of Communications, where he is responsible for discovering, developing, and managing touch-points of communication, and building the Dreaming For Kids community.

Eric considers himself an explorer and, therefore, enjoys travel, hiking, cycling and motorcycling, and discovering new music. He hopes to continue exploring new ways to make Dreaming For Kids an exciting, fun, and successful organization.
